The 2012 Window for the Illinois NBPTS Candidate Fee Subsidy has been extended until June 15 or when 750 Illinois First-Time Candidates have been approved.

All eligible candidates who applied by the due date of May 15, 2012 have been approved. Candidates on the waiting list have moved to the Approved List.

  • Candidates will now be approved on a first come, first served basis.
  • There will be no waiting list.

Teachers and Counselors
Become familiar with directions and documents:
1. Read Eligibility and Priority Criteria document.
2. Read Details About the Application Process.
3. Fill out the Information Document to be used when completing the NBPTS Illinois Candidate Fee Subsidy Application.
Candidates will:
1. Apply to NBPTS and pay the required $65 application fee.
2. Apply for the $2,000 Candidate Fee Subsidy by filling out an online application.
The names of candidates who are approved to receive the Illinois Candidate Fee Subsidy will begin to be posted on the Approval List every weekday.
All candidates who applied on or before May 15 are to pay the initial non-refundable $500 by May 30, 2012.
Candidates who apply from May 16 through June 15 will be approved on the first come, first served basis and must pay the initial non-refundable $500 within 2 weeks from the day they are approved.

Welcome to the National Board Resource Center (NBRC) at Illinois State University. Resources are available to NBCTs, candidates, administrators and support providers for high quality professional development.

The National Board Resource Center at Illinois State University was established by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 1999 as one of five centers charged with advancing teacher quality and student learning through National Board Certification. The National Board Resource Center at Illinois State University:

 

  • Promotes the use of the National Board Standards as a professional development tool and lever for teachers to improve their teaching.
  • Supports diverse groups of teacher candidates seeking National Board Certification as Take One! participants and first-time, retake, and renewal candidates.
  • Builds the capacity of NBCTs to improve teaching and learning through mentoring and facilitating professional development in their respective schools and districts.
  • Partners with universities to align courses and degree programs with National Board Standards.
