The Take One! process may be used as a lever for teachers to focus on how their teaching decisions impact student learning. Teachers have the opportunity to work individually or work in cohorts to complete and submit one pre-selected NBPTS portfolio video entry for their certificate. Teachers plan and select a videotape of a lesson and respond to questions through a written commentary. NBPTS offers documents (portfolio instructions, rubrics, and teaching standards) that enable participants to discuss and write responses to questions. The questions were designed for teachers to show how they think, plan and instruct students to meet learning goals and reflect on the effectiveness of their thinking and performance through the aspects of teaching.
