Illinois Support System
The NBRC at Illinois State University partners with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), to provide administrative and technical support to NBCTs, candidates, teachers interested in seeking National Board Certification, pre-service teachers, school administrators, university faculty, and business and community groups. These services include:
- Provide ISBE staff with data to inform policies, procedures, and projections for the program budget.
- Manage the ISBE online application for the Illinois Candidate Fee Subsidy.
- Develop and coordinate regular communications via monthly newsletter, e-mail, blog, phone calls, and the web.
- Coordinate procedures and communications with NBPTS regarding the candidate calendar, requirements for the Illinois Candidate Fee Subsidy, scholarships, and NBPTS web announcements.
- Align the support of candidates to move toward increasing the virtual support of candidates while lessening the face-to-face support.
- Increase the use of technology: Podcasts, Facebook, blog, webinars, NBCT Link, SKYPE, phone conferences, monthly newsletters with active links, and NBRC updated website as a means to communicate and support NBCTs and candidates.
- Communicate with schools to initiate and maintain their internal NBPTS programs within the district with online support for NBCTs and candidates.
- Increase recruitment and implementation for the Take One! professional development experiences at school and district sites.
